Background

From physical systems to digital ones.

Mick’s background is in practical industrial work, including manufacturing, mining and mechanical environments. That experience shows up in the current practice: find the actual failure, understand the boundary, preserve evidence, and do not call a job finished because the dashboard looks green.

The transition into technical work has produced working systems, not a perpetual beginner narrative. The portfolio is careful about titles, though. It describes demonstrated work without claiming that Mick personally typed every implementation line or adopting a title that the public record has not established.

Working method

AI-assisted, human-directed.

Mick identifies problems, designs constraints and authority boundaries, directs implementation campaigns, and decides what evidence is sufficient for acceptance. AI systems perform substantial implementation, analysis and review within that structure.

That split is a strength only when it remains explicit. Model output is treated as evidence to inspect—not authority to obey. Consequential decisions, scope changes and publication stay human.

The Sanctum

The Sanctum is the repository codename for this portfolio. Publicly, it is Mick’s Foundry: a static record of the work, its status and its inspectable public evidence. The implementation uses Astro and is prepared for GitHub Pages.
